I am an Android Engineer with 6 years of experience building and scaling large production applications using modern Android architecture and Jetpack Compose.

I’ve worked on apps with 1M+ downloads, focusing on performance, maintainability, and real-time features in environments with diverse device capabilities, including low-end hardware.

Most recently, I led a large-scale refactoring of a real-time production system that had reached its architectural limits under new requirements. This work involved redesigning module boundaries, improving state management, and enabling the system to scale safely as new features were introduced.

I enjoy sharing practical, production-driven engineering experiences, especially around system design, scalability, and making architectural trade-offs in real-world applications.

When Features Stop Scaling: Refactoring Real-Time Systems for Growth

A feature can work perfectly...until it stops scaling under real-world demands.

In this talk, I’ll share a production experience where a real-time Android feature started to break when new requirements were introduced. What initially looked like a stable implementation quickly became tightly coupled, fragile, and difficult to extend safely.

Instead of continuing to patch the existing system, we stepped back and re-architected it: isolating the feature into a dedicated module, redefining responsibilities, and introducing a more scalable structure before building further on top of it.

  • recognize early signals that a system is reaching its scalability limits
  • approach large-scale refactoring in a way that minimizes delivery disruption
  • balance short-term velocity with long-term maintainability

This session is aimed at engineers working with evolving production systems who want practical strategies for managing complexity and making better architectural decisions as systems grow.
