DESCRIPTION:Real-time computing has a strict rule: correctness means produc
ing the right output within a non-negotiable deadline. General-purpose OSe
s with their unbounded delays can't make this promise\, which is why we re
ly on systems like the PREEMPT_RT kernel. Before this work\, however\, cri
tical questions were left to guesswork: "Have we tested long enough?" and
"How do we know an even worse latency won't happen in production?"\n\nThis
talk presents a toolkit that methodically answers these questions by appl
ying Extreme Value Theory (EVT). Just as the Central Limit Theorem describ
es the behavior of averages\, EVT provides the powerful statistical founda
tion for predicting extreme maximums. We'll show how this tool forecasts p
erformance limits\, helps diagnose deep-seated system bugs\, and provides
immense business value by turning uncertainty into data-backed confidence\
, enabling robust SLAs and de-risking system deployment.
