Image mode is a new approach to operating system (OS) deployment that lets users build, deploy, and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux as a bootc container image. Image mode for Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) uses the same tools, skills, and patterns as containerized applications to deliver an operating system that is easier to build, ship and run.
Image mode will be GA in RHEL 9.6 and RHEL 10. Testing on image mode becomes one of important part of test tasks. Most of audience should be familiar with package mode test. What's the different between image mode and package mode? How should we run image mode test?
Image mode test includes two parts, image building test(aka. build time test) and image deployment test (aka. run time test). In this talk, some image mode test examples will be introduced to help image mode on-boarding. The examples include image test with Testing Farm, TMT and TMT bootc plugin. And image mode test best practice will be shared as well.
Welcome to join this talk if you're interested in image mode.
