Backstage Pass: Rock Your Open Source Workflow with Templates

After deploying Backstage as your internal developer portal (IDP), you need to enrich it with plugins and Software Templates to turn it into a productivity multiplier for developers. Developing your first Software Template is a daunting task but we help you get through the first hurdles! We’ll discuss everything a template developer needs to know, from building out your template repository to using Custom Field Extensions, Template Filters, and the Nunjucks templating language. This session will give you the knowledge and resources you need to rise to the challenge!

Evan Shortiss is a Technical Marketing Manager at Red Hat. He has a background in developer advocacy and consulting and where he worked on the architecture and implementation of enterprise mobile applications and backend integrations with commercial customers in EMEA and NA with a focus on Node.js and JavaScript ecosystem technologies. More recently, Evan has worked with Kubernetes, Backstage, Apache Kafka, and cloud-native technologies and has developed keen interest in helping others be successful with cloud technologies and patterns.
